The story begins when I discover a hollow in an old oak tree near our home. I return for a walk near this tree when one day, I see her, blending into the bark, basking in the sun! What a wonderful gift to see the Tawny Owl in daylight, she who is usually nocturnal and so discreet. It is our first encounter, magical and unexpected. Others invite themselves along during our travels. Every encounter with an owl, every photo of one brings us immense joy, an irresistible desire to discover more about these mysterious little people so well hidden.

These first “finds” fascinate us and lead us into a beautiful adventure where we will discover the thirteen species of strigiformes in Europe.

With this project, we travel through various countries over several years. We cross the seasons in worlds as varied as the French coasts and mountains, the primary forests of Scandinavia, and the desert plains of central Spain.

After more than ten years of research, observation, and communion with nature, our book revealing the owls of Europe is born. Photographed in natural light, by day, at dawn or at dusk, these nocturnal birds show themselves in a different light. From the tiny and delicate pygmy owl to the imposing and dignified Eagle Owl, each encounter was rich and unique. We have learned so much by observing these charismatic winged beings.

From comical situations to dreamlike visions, we wanted to share our most beautiful emotions, to let you glimpse the fantastic world of these singular birds, to taste the poetry of fleeting moments.

Owls are never far away, and the magic is within everyone’s reach…
